Did anyone notice that there was no opening bell at the NYSE this morning? I think that is the first time that has ever happened. The market dropped over 750 points today, maybe its a good thing the bell didn't ring.
How do you feel about the economic bailout? Post your comments and let me know.
The House failed to pass the economic bailout bill today. How do you feel about this?

Incompetent Buffoon
Hey folks,
The Fed chairman told Congress today that our entire financial system is only days away from total collapse. You and I are getting ready to buy up all of the bad debt hanging over the economy and our dollar is subject to falling apart. I mean shredded. I don't think that I have to remind any of you that John McCain just recently said "the fundamentals of our economy are strong". I guess it is like Jack Cafferty said "When you graduate 894th out of a class of 899, eventually it will show up". The Wall Street Journal is even blasting McCain. "If you're a Republican running for president of the United States and the Wall Street Journal basically says you're an incompetent buffoon, you're in serious trouble" (Cafferty, 2008).

Hope
I wanted to speak a little about hope. The reason is because it is one of the main differences between the Democrats and Republicans. The Democrats offer hope. It is sad to see Republicans scoff at this as though it is some far out concept. Do you think African Americans could have made it through periods of slavery and segregation were it not for hope? Was it not hope that fought a war between the states and ended in one unified country? I certainly think that all Abraham Lincoln had to go on was hope at times.
John McCain offers no hope at a time when our country is in its worst position in recent history. Barack Obama may not have all of the answers but he does offer hope. He also has the intelligence to lead us in a better direction. Does anyone really agree with John McCain when he says that "The fundamentals of the economy are strong" or when Sara Palin says that she does not think that humans are causing global warming? The Republicans have done a miserable job! There, I said it. Since 1969. 39 years!, The Republicans have had the White House for 27 of those years. Since 1969, the first time the federal government ran a budget surplus, was 1998 during the Clinton administration. After 8 years of the Neo-Con top down management style of George Bush, we now stand torn apart and nearly in financial ruin in so many places and so many ways. The differential between the haves and have nots is greater than ever. Now, more than ever, we need hope. Hope for you and hope for me. Hope that we can have the wisdom to safely take us through this ever changing century and beyond. The militaristic thinking of John McCain will certainly not do that. Does anyone really believe that Sara Palin stopped the bridge to nowhere? Not even close, she tried her best to get it. Folks, there is a 1 in 4 chance that John McCain will die in the next four years and that would put Sara Palin in the drivers seat and then what? John Mcain picked Sara Palin to create excitement in his campaign because his message lacks the hope we need. He is driven by personal desire for the Presidency and nothing else. 27 years is a long time, too long if you ask me to go without hope.

Introduction
Hello,
My name is Steve and this blog is created for ASIP 5200. I have chosen a political forum because of the November elections and because of the enormous importance our decision will make to future generations. It is my belief that the Democratic party offers the best chance at a brighter future for all Americans. I am looking forward to future postings as well as your comments.
